BAN vs ENG: Bangladesh Beat England In The Second T20I To Seal The Series

The reigning T20 World Cup champions England suffered another shock upset on Sunday as they lost the second T20I of the three-match series against Bangladesh by four wickets. With this loss, the English team also lost the series as they had suffered defeat in the first match.

England started off well, getting to 50/1 within just seven overs of their innings. But things fell apart completely after that, once the spinners came on to bowl. The visiting side lost the big wickets of Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and Moeen Ali in the space of just two overs, and Bangladeshi spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan accounted for two of those wickets.

Ben Duckett and Sam Curran brought England back into the game for a brief while, with a 34-run stand. But Mehidy Hasan claimed the wickets and Curran and Chris Woakes in the 15th over of the innings reduced England to 91/6. But he wasn't done yet, as he came back to bowl in the 17th over again to dismiss Chris Jordan. As a result, Mehidy finished with brilliant figures of 4/12 in his four overs.

The tail couldn't add much to England's total as they were bowled out for a paltry total of 117.

Bangladesh did struggle initially in their innings as they lost three wickets with just 56 runs on the board. But Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz combined to get the hosts close to the target. They shared a stand of 41 runs and it came to an end with Jofra Archer dismissing Mehidy for a well-made 20. The hosts also lost Shakib and Afif Hossain in quick succession after that, but Shanto, who was adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant fifty in the first T20I, maintained his composure once again to see his side home with an unbeaten 46 to his name.

The hosts reached the target with seven deliveries and four wickets to spare, and Mehidy was adjudged the Player of the Match this time for his all-round brilliance. As far as England's bowling goes, Archer was brilliant with figures of 3/13 to his name, while Rehan Ahmed, Moeen Ali, and Sam Curran also chipped in with a wicket each.
