India to Host 2025 Men’s Asia Cup in T20 Format; Bangladesh to Stage 2027 Edition as 50-Over Tournament

India will host the 2025 Men's Asia Cup, which will be played in T20 format. This announcement comes as part of the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) release of the Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document.

The document outlines plans for future Asia Cups. It also invites parties to submit their expressions of interest for ACC Sponsorship Rights from 2024 to 2027. Bangladesh will host the 2027 tournament edition to be played in the 50-over format.

The 2023 Men's Asia Cup, hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a hybrid format, was a 50-over tournament, with India emerging victorious. The tournament's unique hosting arrangement and successful execution set a high standard for future editions.

India's role as the host for the 2025 Asia Cup marks only the second time the country will host the Men's Asia Cup. The first one was in 1990/91, when India claimed the championship title at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. As detailed in the ACC's tender document, both the 2025 and 2027 editions will feature 13 matches each.

The Women's T20 Asia Cup is scheduled for 2026. Yet, the venue is to be announced. This edition will feature 15 matches. It will highlight the growing focus on women's cricket in the region.

The ACC also announced the Men's Under-19 Asia Cup tournaments for 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027, each featuring 15 matches. These tournaments will provide a platform for young talent across Asia to help nurture future cricket stars.

The Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup will also take place. The T20 format is scheduled for 2024 and 2026, and the 50-over format for 2025 and 2027. Each edition will consist of 30 matches.

The Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup will be held in 2025 and 2027, with each edition comprising 15 matches. These tournaments aim to enhance the competitive level of women's cricket across Asia. They will also provide a stage for emerging players.

The ACC's tender document outlines specific criteria for potential sponsors. It requires interested parties to have a net worth exceeding USD 10 million or an annual turnover of more than USD 15 million as of March 31, 2024. The deadline for sponsorship rights submissions for the 2024 to 2027 cycle was set for August 2, 5 pm Dubai time.

The sponsorship opportunities present a significant chance for companies to associate with one of Asia's premier cricket events. It will provide global exposure and branding opportunities in one of the world's most popular sports markets.

The upcoming Men's Asia Cups in 2025 and 2027, along with other tournaments scheduled by the ACC, reflect cricket's increasing popularity in Asia. These events will provide players, sponsors, and fans with valuable opportunities. They will also contribute to the sport's development across the continent. India and Bangladesh, as hosts, will use these tournaments to enhance their cricketing infrastructure and fan engagement.
