Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) play each other in the ongoing Indian Premier League at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 23. These two sides are the most successful in the history of the tournament and will be expected to put up a blinder of a show for their fans. MI won their previous game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), whereas CSK were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad away from home.
MI have won just two games this season, as have CSK, but the former seem to have regained their momentum after beating LSG. Their Indian core is quite strong, which means that even if their overseas players have not delivered, they have found ways to counter-attack. CSK, on the other hand, have had poor performances from their overseas stars, as well as their Indian players. This has resulted in them languishing towards the bottom half of the standings.
Predicted Teams
MI: Danish Malewar, Quinton de Kock (wk), Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya( c), Tilak Varma, Sherfane Rutherford, Mitchell Santner, Krish Bhagat, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar.
CSK: Sanju Samson (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, Matthew Short, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary, Gurjapneet Singh.
Key Players
Naman Dhir (MI): Slotted to bat at number three, Naman Dhir is one of the most exciting players in the league. The Punjab batter is known for his positive intent and can take on both seamers and spinners comfortably. Dhir has a tall frame, which means that he can get underneath deliveries comfortably and use this leverage to pull balls away. He is a good power-hitter, too.
Sanju Samson (CSK): Sanju Samson has blown hot and cold for CSK this season, but he showed his class with a brilliant ton against his former franchise, Delhi Capitals, earlier this year. If the opener-wicketkeeper gets set against MI, he can take the attack to their bowlers and tear the game apart inside the powerplay itself. Samson has great hands and the right mindset to attack bowlers in the first six overs.
Match Prediction
MI have an advantage over CSK at home. The slowish track at the Wankhede will support spinners, so the visitors may feel a little cheered up. But, in reality, MI's overall batting strength will see them coast to a comfortable victory. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma in their middle order can daunt any respectable bowling unit.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Gujarat Titans – Prediction For Match In Indian Premier League (24.04.2026)
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) host Gujarat Titans (GT) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League on Friday, April 24. RCB have been brilliant so far this season, winning four out of their six matches. GT, on the other hand, have done modestly, winning three and losing three. Led by India Test captain Shubman Gill, GT have a well-balanced outfit, especially when it comes to bowling.
RCB, on the other hand, seem to have covered all their bases. The arrival of Josh Hazlewood has boosted their bowling attack. Playing at home, RCB know that they need to either put up a big total on the board, or prevent their opponents from doing so in the powerplay. RCB have a top-heavy batting unit, with the likes of Virat Kohli, Philip Salt and Devdutt Padikkal showing their class, both while hitting the ball in the air and while essaying the anchor’s role.
Predicted Teams
RCB: Virat Kohli, Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar (c), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suyash Sharma, Josh Hazlewood.
GT: Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wk), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma.
Key Players
Philip Salt (RCB): Opener Philip Salt can be responsible for getting RCB off to a brisk start. He is a clean striker of the ball and can take risks quite comfortably against seamers. Salt also likes to hit the ball down the ground, and he can easily get under them inside the power play. The Englishman is known as a terror to opposition bowlers, especially since he has shots to counter short-pitched deliveries too.
Rashid Khan (GT): Rashid Khan is the trump card for GT. The leg-spinner has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and perhaps the biggest of them all is his ability to drift the ball and then get it to slide through. The Afghan is very accurate and is known to hold the middle overs well for captain Gill. Khan is a handy option with the bat too, and can be trusted to get a few big hits out of the way in the slog overs.
Match Prediction
We expect RCB to win. They will make use of their experience in these conditions and force GT to play outside their comfort zone. RCB need to tighten up their spin bowling somewhat and manage the dew factor well. If they do so, they will not face too many problems from GT. The visiting side's batting unit failed spectacularly in their loss to Mumbai Indians, getting all out for 100, and unless they recover quickly, they will be in for a challenging time against the home team.
