Who Will Host the Asia Cup in 2022? 

The last Asia Cup was held in 2018. In 2020, the tournament was supposed to be held in Sri Lanka, but due to COVID-19 pandemic outbreak all over the world, it had to be canceled. 2 more years have passed and the Asia cup cricket tournament 2022 has finally returned into the world of sports. At first, the event’s organizers assumed that the tournament would be held on the territory of Pakistan. However, due to the situation, it had to be moved to another place. 

Sri Lanka took the initiative to host the competition on its territory, as it was unable to do so back in 2018. However, it is worth noting that this decision of Sri Lanka was made under pressure from the government. Current economical and political crisis is escalating on the island. The president of the country recently fled, a new president was elected in a short time, but unrest in society and rallies are still continuing. This situation casts doubt on the possibility of holding the Asia Cricket Cup in Sri Lanka. 

Who Will Host the Asia Cup in 2022?

ACC held an emergency meeting regarding the venue of the tournament in 2022. If the unfortunate situation in Sri Lanka continues to deteriorate, the competition will be moved to the UAE. Since it is in the UAE that the ACC headquarter is located. 

At the moment, there is no official information about the transfer of the tournament from Sri Lanka to the UAE. However, all the prerequisites lead to this. ACC is closely monitoring the situation on the island, as it cannot risk disrupting the tournament due to the political circumstances. 6 teams will participate in the Asia Cup 2022 cricket: India, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the qualifying team.

The qualified team will be determined at the qualification competition. The Asia Cup will be held from August 27th to September 11th, however, there is no full schedule for matches yet. The teams have already been divided into groups and are waiting for the exact location of the event to be determined.
